With Covid-19 crisis putting additional financial burden and revenue receipts getting adversely impacted, the Telangana has announced major salary cuts to its employees.

While the IAS, IPS, IFS and other officers of the Central services will get a 60 per cent cut in their salaries. For all other employees, the cut will be 50 per cent.

The salaries of Chief Minister, his Cabinet colleagues, MLAs and MLCs will be cut by 75 per cent.

Class-IV employees, however, have been spared with a minor reduction of 10 per cent in their salaries.

The decision would also impact pensioners, whose pension would be cut by 50 per cent.

Employees of several public sector undertakings, institutions that have been receiving government grants too would face reduction in their salaries.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, on Sunday, indicated that there might be cuts in salaries as the revenue receipts of the State took a beating because of the shutdown.
